  • Fully functional advanced options, including:
    • Housing result options such as ownership, price, and distance
    • Search result limitations and results updater
    • New color changer

  • Redesigned and expanded help page
  • Improved design, increased unification, better user flow, and more efficient code

Known issues/future plans

The only thing that I truly want changed is the City State reverse it or something because the use is non-obvious even thought the city is grayed out till a state is selected.

You have suggested this several times, and while we are willing to accommodate your needs, I again ask you to reconsider this request.

Not only have we grayed out the city until a state is selected, but we have added a help icon directly to the right of the state selection for those who are confused by the order. I really feel that if the city and state are switched, that it completely throws off the fill-in-the-blank text entry metaphor. The reasoning is that the distance option is based on the city, and the search results are limited by distance from that city, and not by whether the result is in a particular state, as distance is almost always far more important than what stat it's in. This all means, that if we change the order of 'distance, city, state,' the sentence no longer has the same meaning.

The only thing I can think would be to make the city list invisible until you choose a state, but that might imply that you are initially looking for jobs with a certain distance of a whole state.

So do it the way other sites do it in

Help me find entry-level IT jobs in {State selection box} within { Miles selection box} Miles of {city selection box}

I feel that would be better because of the way english speaking people feel about left to right reading and tabbing.

Like I mentioned before, that statement implies a search for one particular state. But what if you live right across the border? There might be a closer job out of state. If you read that statement aloud, you will notice that it implies that every job returned will be within a single state, but that's not how the search is designed, as it can easily return cities from another state.

That being said, I feel like I will need a consensus from your group in order to make the change, as I know that at least one your group members likes it the way it is.
